A return of strength

Last year, I had a surprise turnaround of something I hadn’t considered a problem. For several years, when brushing my teeth, I’d sit in a chair in front of the sink instead of standing. I began doing this when standing seemed to take more effort than before, and I thought, “Why stand when I can sit?”

But one day, as I was getting ready to brush my teeth, I felt no need to sit down. I realized that my normal strength had returned, and I thought, “Why sit when I can stand?”

I attribute this improvement to two activities I’d been doing over the previous six months. One was to listen to an audio recording of pages 244–249 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. These pages are in the chapter “Footsteps of Truth” and address “the error of thinking that we are growing old” (p. 245).
