No more ruminating

I had learned a lesson in spiritual grace, in understanding and accepting the love of God, and this washed away all worry.

I try to begin each day with prayer and study, usually culminating in asking God, “What would You have me do today? Thy will be done.” Then I listen, expecting an answer and knowing that when we strive to be receptive to the angel thoughts that God is always sending us, we can hear them.

In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy defines angels as “God’s thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality” (p. 581).

I love communing with God anytime, but especially first thing in the morning. So I was distressed when I recently found myself often unable to sleep through the night, waking in the early hours and worrying over my own finances and health as well as the well-being of my children and grandchildren. It was a kaleidoscope of negative “what if” scenarios playing out in my mind. I was shocked by this unexpected intrusion on my thought and the fear of bad outcomes that these thoughts included.
