God’s supply proven

In the Bible we read, “My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). I learned the reliability of this divine law of supply when my husband was laid off from his job. We had purchased our first home, but now his unemployment compensation plus my income would not cover our family’s expenses, and credit card debt that we couldn’t pay off quickly mounted up.

From my study of Christian Science, I trusted that I could rely on God to help me know how to pay the bills. As I studied the weekly Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly each morning, I prayed with ideas that seemed written just for me. I was gleaning spiritual nuggets that supported my understanding of God as infinite good, constantly supplying us with the ideas that express good in our lives.

One is this idea from the textbook of Christian Science: “In order to apprehend more, we must put into practice what we already know. We must recollect that Truth is demonstrable when understood, and that good is not understood until demonstrated” (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 323).
