That wasn’t me!
One summer evening several years ago, I was watering plants in my front garden. On my way back inside, my sandal caught on a step, and as I fell forward, I felt a painful twinge in my right arm. When I tried to get up, the arm had no strength in it. My neighbor, who was also outside, kindly helped me into the house.
Another neighbor came over as well. They were both concerned that I might have broken my arm. Although I felt no pain when the arm was still, they asked me if I had any painkillers in the house. I explained that, as a Christian Scientist, I relied on prayer for healing. However, they felt we should call an ambulance. I agreed to this, both for their benefit and to satisfy concerns my family was likely to have. I also rang my daughter, who lives about a two-hour drive from me.
While waiting for the ambulance, I rang a Christian Science practitioner to ask for treatment through prayer. The practitioner reminded me that I was always in the care of God, divine Love, no matter where I was. As God’s child, I could never experience anything less than His perfect peace and goodness. I felt no fear, just gratitude for all the love and care surrounding me.
