Learning about my relation to God helped me with my job hunt
Several months into my job hunt, I was seeing plenty of news headlines about rampant unemployment and low prospects.
As a practicing Christian Scientist, I wanted to be spiritually clear about my reasoning and my steps toward a new job. It was important to me that this job change not be something that I was trying to will into existence. I wanted to understand that this entire experience was unfolding through God’s direction, not mine.
I began by turning to the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. In my prayers, two thoughts came to me: First, that God, who is all-power, was directing my path. Second, that this new job would be a place where I could express God to the best of my ability. I found comfort in this statement by Mrs. Eddy: “When we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path” (Science and Health, p. 254). I was willing to be patient and trust that each step would be directed by God.
