A sonnet to magnify the Lord

O righteous Father, hallow’d be Thy name.
A yearning deep inside me rises up
and fills my being with a burning flame
of awe—a willingness to drink my cup
completely, to delight to do my part,
to use the strengths You’ve given me, to learn
to know that I can never be apart
from You or from the love of Christ. I yearn
to fathom Your magnificence with clear,
unfettered knowing. And without a trace
of pride, I sing Your praise for all to hear
and love You openly with joy and grace.
In glorifying God, I am restored.
Today “my soul doth magnify the Lord." Luke 1:46
