This article has many excellent points, but I couldn’t help but wonder if it applies to the good people of Iran, North Korea, etc., when it states: “Our prayers for the offices of government can help uphold the office, its purpose, and the spiritual qualities necessary to sustain it. And this naturally blesses the individual holding the office and all those whose lives will be affected by the decisions resulting from the exercise of that office.”

Thank you for your comments. The article highlights the spiritual requirement to impersonalize evil, in praying for a government office, and so separate it from the individual holding the office. Impersonalizing evil separates all that is not God-given and God-directed from the individual by seeing that only good is being reflected by God’s man, His creation. If evil is being exuded through the office via the individual holding the office, prayerfully impersonalizing and rejecting the evil and allowing good to fill our consciousness frees us and others to act in accordance with God’s will. This blesses not only lawmakers but all citizens affected by the laws as well.
