Seeing God’s control in the details
Have you ever had an experience where the pending outcome looked as if it were going to be totally out of your control, maybe to the point of your thinking, “C’est la vie; time to move on”? There is a better approach! We can turn to God for the solution in such situations.
Isn’t the fundamental mind-set behind the “out of my control” thinking one of accepting that there is a power apart from or independent of good, God, sometimes taking the form of chance or luck? That even if there is a good divine power, some other power can interfere with it and produce random discord, making a lot of things out of our control?
Genesis 1:31 tells us that “God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.” The Bible also clearly describes God as good—as our refuge, helper, defense, shield, and healer; as light and love; as All-in-all, infinite. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy adds that God, the creator of man and the universe, is divine Principle—the one source of law or power, always governing His creation harmoniously. So, as we understand God as infinite, all-good, eternal, and perfect Principle, we can see that man, as God’s image and likeness (see Genesis 1:26), is always under God’s harmonious control.
