Employment and income needs met
A few years ago, realizing that our income and savings were insufficient to support us, my wife and I spent over a year trying to find employment, though we were both of retirement age. Prospects seemed slim, and all my efforts proved fruitless. We owned our home outright, but it felt as if the only answer was to sell it, relocate, and start over.
I was accustomed to praying in situations such as this to quiet fearful thinking and focus on God. Moreover, I had experienced downsizing, layoffs, and rejection in the past, and our Father-Mother God had always seen us through. It was comforting to revisit those earlier demonstrations of God’s care.
Yet I felt that I had already proved that supply and right activity come from God. So why did this problem keep recurring? I asked myself this question in frustration, until it occurred to me to address the notion that there could be a relapse. I had learned in Christian Science that we can heal by understanding that sickness, inharmony, and lack are never part of our experience as God’s offspring, as She supplies constant good. Therefore, lack—whether of funds or right activity—has never been true, not been true once and subsequently corrected. And this holds true for me and for everyone.
