Child’s hearing restored
When our daughter was in elementary school, she became ill for a day or two with what appeared to be a cold. It didn’t seem to be anything serious, but shortly afterward my husband and I noticed she couldn’t hear us speaking to her. This made us anxious.
We both began to pray, and we asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray with us to help overcome the fear. Our daughter continued to attend school, since her health was fine in all other regards. But we did inform the school of the hearing problem, and we continued to pray.
On the second or third day of specific prayer, I spoke with the practitioner while our daughter was playing with a neighborhood friend. The practitioner asked what I wanted for our daughter. A little puzzled, I replied that I wanted her to be able to hear. The practitioner said, “Knowing that is already the case, what are we going to pray for?” I wasn’t sure how to answer that. She said, “We are going to pray to see that spiritual fact expressed.”
