Don’t be deceived. Be safe. Be healed.
No one likes to be fooled into believing what is not true, especially when it can be harmful. Let’s consider something Christ Jesus said to those who believed in him. It can help anyone who wants to be protected from being deceived. “If you obey my teaching,” he said, “… you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31, 32, Good News Translation).
That’s quite a promise! So, what is the truth that can set us free from being deceived?
Jesus’ healing ministry leads us to God, who is infinite Truth and the true source of freedom, genuine satisfaction, health, and eternal life. Jesus taught us that God is our Parent, and that we could know and express our spiritual nature as God’s offspring. As we study these teachings in the Bible and practice them, we become more spiritually minded. We aren’t so easily deceived into believing that pleasure and satisfaction can be found in matter, which so regularly disappoints, or conversely, that we are inherently vulnerable to pain, disease, and mortality.
