A healing in the workplace
The wonderful part of Christian Science is that you can learn to turn to God and find healing anywhere and anytime. I found the help I needed at work one afternoon.
My employer is a supply house for the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) industry, and I was in our warehouse by myself pulling down some products for a customer. The items were not heavy, but were packed in large cardboard boxes. I used a staircase on wheels to get to the higher shelves. I was on the steps near the top, bringing down one of the larger boxes, and as I backed down the steps the box started to slip out of my hands. As I tried to catch it, I began to lose my balance. To compensate, I shifted my weight, and ended up overextending my knee.
I was in extreme pain, although I was able to make it down to the bottom of the steps. I could barely walk at this point. But you know, the first thing I thought of was the first part of “the scientific statement of being” from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. This statement begins, “There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all” (p. 468). I stopped for a minute and thought about what I was or wasn’t going to accept for myself.
