The incorporeal, practical Christ

Recently, a friend expressed with simplicity, conviction, and joy how a particular healing she had experienced through Christian Science piqued her interest in learning more about Christian Science. In fact, it eventually resulted in her becoming a member of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. This is not unusual. Many members have similar testimonies. Some of these healings are reminiscent of some of Christ Jesus’ healings recorded in the Bible. Such healings have convinced my friend and others, as no doctrinal theory could, that God is real, and that Christianity as Christ Jesus taught and practiced it is a practical and available Science.

I love hearing these accounts of healing, whether given publicly at a Christian Science testimony meeting or shared in private conversation. The sincere gratitude expressed, and the significance of such healings taking place in this day and age, often help reaffirm faith in God’s practical goodness, power, and love. Sometimes hearing a testimony is just what is needed to bring comfort, reassurance, and even healing.

While my initial interest in Christian Science had nothing to do with a particular physical healing, what brought me to desire a deeper study of it, and then to become a member of The Mother Church, was just as wonderful, because it taught me about the divine power that makes healing possible today and in all ages.
