Hemorrhoids healed, relationships harmonized
I was introduced to Christian Science by a woman who taught a course I took in computer science. I was impressed by the peace, harmony, and love she expressed. Later I came to know that she was a class-taught student of Christian Science.
At the time, I was having some difficulties with family relationships, as well as health problems for which I was undergoing medical treatment. One Sunday my husband and I attended a service at the Christian Science Society in Chandigarh. I loved the peace that was all around, and I was inspired by a hymn by Elizabeth C. Adams, which begins,
Father, we Thy loving children
Lift our hearts in joy today,
Knowing well that Thou wilt keep us
Ever in Thy blessed way.

My husband and I started attending Sunday services and Wednesday testimony meetings regularly in early 2016. I felt inspired by the testimonies given by members and visitors during the Wednesday meetings.
Then I started talking on the phone with the woman who had introduced me to this Science. She encouraged me to read the weekly Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly and the chapter titled “Prayer” in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
She pointed out the spiritual interpretation of the Lord’s Prayer at the end of that chapter, especially of the line “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” The spiritual sense of that line as given in Science and Health is “And Love is reflected in love” (p. 17). She suggested I look for ways to demonstrate this truth each day.
Gaining a clearer understanding of God as Love, and of myself and others as Love’s expression, helped me let go of anger and resentment I’d been holding on to. I started feeling love in my life because I started reflecting love for others. My relationships completely changed and harmonized as a result.
Soon I stopped taking medicine and instead asked my friend for prayerful help with the health challenges and with difficulties I’d been having in my professional life.
One day recently I was thinking about the countless blessings I have experienced since beginning my study of Christian Science. Suddenly I realized that the painful problem of piles, or hemorrhoids, which I’d had for many years, had disappeared. I’ve had no trace of this condition over the last two years as I was learning about God and my relation to Him. And the problems at work have been resolved, too.
This experience proves what Mrs. Eddy says on page 216 of Science and Health: “If man is governed by the law of divine Mind, his body is in submission to everlasting Life and Truth and Love.”
I am indeed grateful to Christian Science and the friend who introduced me to it, and to the members of my Christian Science Society for their prayers for the congregation, which bless everyone present with the healing touch of Christ.
