Debilitating injury from car accident healed
One day quite a long time ago, as my husband and I were driving down the highway in Buena Vista, Colorado, a group of deer suddenly crossed in front of our car. We were traveling at a high speed, and when my husband swerved sharply to avoid the deer, it caused the car to roll, ultimately landing upside down. The vehicle was totaled.
No deer were hurt. My husband was also not hurt, but after crawling out of the window, I found myself lying on the side of the road, unable to stand. Evidently, I had sustained an injury to my back.
An ambulance appeared as if by magic, and the paramedics prepared to take me to the hospital. When they bent over me to ask questions and determine if I was alert, I told them I was a Christian Scientist and wanted to be taken home. Apparently this was something they could not do, and there was a lot of discussion about what to do with me. My husband, not being a Christian Scientist, was concerned, but remained quiet as we determined what should be done. Then, a young woman in the crowd that had gathered told the paramedics that her mother was a Christian Scientist and that she knew what I wanted. She borrowed a board from them, and I was then moved onto the board and into her station wagon. She took me, with my husband, to my sister’s home, which was closer than our own.
