The essential command to preach the gospel
Christ Jesus gave this important instruction to his disciples before his ascension: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). Understanding the deeper significance of preaching the gospel—that it involves not human movement but the demonstrated consciousness of God’s universal, unmoving goodness—is essential to bringing the healing activity of the Christ to humanity, and to finding one’s own place in the world as a practicing Christian.
God is omnipresent Mind, and His creation, man, is God’s spiritual, eternal, and perfect reflection. Jesus preached and healed on the basis of this understanding of God and man, and Christian Science does so as well. Divine Mind communicates the truth of man’s identity consistently and clearly to every individual human consciousness—to every man, woman, and child.
Preaching the gospel is an entirely spiritual activity.
