Turning to God brings healing
I’d like to share a couple of turning points in my life. The first occurred after I came back into Christian Science (see Donna Mae Berneman testimony in the October 19, 1981, Sentinel).
During this time, I had been trying to read and study the weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson but would easily get distracted. One day I went to the Christian Science Reading Room and started to read from the Bible’s second account of creation, where it says, “But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground’’ (Genesis 2:6). For some reason, I couldn’t get past that sentence.
I decided to look up each word (mist, earth, water, face, ground) because I find that sometimes when I do research like that, it helps. I knew from studying Christian Science that the first chapter of Genesis presented man made in the “image and likeness of God” and that the second account of creation was an allegory about flawed, mortal man.
