What a perfect, practical oneness!
Of the more than 31,000 verses in the Bible, the most significant and helpful verse for me might be this statement by Christ Jesus: “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30).
Initially I thought Jesus meant that he was very close to God, in the way two friends can be so close and know one another so well that they finish each other’s sentences. But I learned that Jesus was talking about something much more momentous than that.
What really helped me begin to grasp the concept of oneness was to consider first the nature of God as cause. Beyond the scope of materiality, this cause—that is God—creates, provides for, and protects His spiritual universe, including man. To be the effect of God is to be God’s action, or self-expression.
