Trust in God brings healing

I have been a Christian Scientist all my adult life, and have turned to God to help me solve problems and heal me of physical ailments.

One healing occurred after a fall. While I was out walking, I missed a step in the pavement and fell forward on my hands and face, splitting the palm of my hand and bruising my face. I immediately declared that I was a child of God, a fact I had learned from studying the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. I had also read in the Christian Science periodicals about all kinds of situations that had been healed, and I knew that God loved me and was maintaining my spiritual identity in His likeness (see Genesis 1:26, 27).

Since the bleeding continued and I was tempted to be fearful of the extent of the injury to my hand, I called a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. She reassured me that I had a secure place in God’s kingdom, in which accidents are not real in anyone’s experience. Mrs. Eddy wrote these reassuring words: “Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 424).
