Arm and shoulder move freely again
For over a year I endured a growing sense of debilitation in my right arm. While I could still use it for some things, tasks that required me to raise my arm in front of me or overhead were painful ordeals. And sometimes, even when it was quietly resting at my side, the arm would ache.
I prayed often, declaring that I wasn’t afraid because I understood the difficulty to be nothing more than an illusion—a false mental suggestion that I was an imperfect mortal with a material body that could deteriorate. I affirmed that man was created by the Holy Spirit in eternal perfection and unfettered usefulness, which Christian Science reveals as the present and only reality.
Through my study of Christian Science, I’ve learned to consider all painful complaints as errors with no real substance, as clearly explained in many places in the textbook of Christian Science, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. For instance, it states regarding divine Truth, which is God: “Because Truth is omnipotent in goodness, error, Truth’s opposite, has no might. Evil is but the counterpoise of nothingness” (pp. 367–368).
