Beside ‘still waters’
Like so many people growing up in Sunday School, I memorized the 23rd Psalm as a child. Through the years I’ve been grateful to call up those words whenever there was a need, because they’ve been an unfailing source of comfort and guidance.
Soon after I turned 13, the psalm became more to me than just words in a book: They were alive with healing.
During spring break from school that year, our family took a car trip from New York to Florida. I’d very much been looking forward to the trip, especially to spending a few days at the ocean.
