Child's breathing problem healed
Our family witnessed a beautiful healing that illustrated how prayer in Christian Science accomplishes more than just healing the body; it harmonizes the atmosphere surrounding all those involved.
My son was having trouble breathing, a challenge we’d faced with him on several occasions before. Since both my husband and I had relied on prayer for healing all our lives, it was natural for us to pray for him as we had been taught in Christian Science.
Important in our prayers was the recognition that this child was part of God’s flawless spiritual creation, beloved by his Father-Mother God. The very word spirit is derived from the Latin spirare, “to breathe.” Praying with Mary Baker Eddy’s discussion of the Greek word for spirit, which is pneuma (see Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 598), helped us see our son’s present perfection more clearly. We worked as well with “the scientific statement of being” found on page 468 of Science and Health.
