Living in technicolor
[“Resentment-free,” Ellen Austin, “Living Christian Science Today” blog, April 11, 2013]
Thank you, Ellen. I can identify with this article because I, too, had to put resentment aside; it took me a long time, almost eight years to forgive. I felt that my joy was stolen. It was a hard lesson, but when I actually forgave, it was like the blanket of the night was pulled away from my life and I began living in technicolor.
I found peace, a new life, and even a new, wonderful husband.

Tools to help
I was on a plane leaving Kansas City for Chicago. After chatting with the woman across the aisle, I started reading the March Christian Science Journal. As we climbed through the clouds, we hit a bit of turbulence. I happened to look over at the young woman—she was gripping the armrest, breathing rapidly, and the color had gone from her face. I spoke to her of God’s love and assured her His arms were around every one of us. It occurred to me that it might be helpful for her to understand that the turbulence was just air currents. When it appeared that she relaxed somewhat, I let go of her hand and began to think through the words to “Satisfied,” one of Mary Baker Eddy’s poems [Poems, p. 79 ].
Next, I checked my bag for something the young woman might read. I pulled out a Sentinel. Guess what the title was? “Safety in the air” [March 18, 2013]. (Is God in every detail or what?!) I asked the young woman if she had heard of Christian Science. She had not, so I responded with a short explanation and then offered the Sentinel. “God put us together for a reason,” I commented. She agreed and was very thankful for the support. She read that Sentinel from cover to cover. She relaxed, the turbulence ceased, and we began to see blue skies out the window.
Thank you, Mother Church, Journal and Sentinel staff, for all the tools and inspiration you have given me to go into the world.

Practical proof
I’m so grateful for an article featured on the front page of JSH-Online titled, “The source is with you” by Margaret Rogers [September 27, 2004, Sentinel]. I was inspired by her retelling of this true event about Mary Baker Eddy: “During a dry season in 1894, the farmer who supplied milk to her home reported that his well was empty and his cows were drying up. When Mrs. Eddy was told about this, she said, ‘Oh! If he only knew, Love fills that well.’ The next day the farmer found his well full. There had been no rain.”
Wow! Wherever there seems to be lack is actually filled with Love, and this prayer meets our every human need with practical proof. Proof that God is Love!
