God’s creatures receptive

Thank you for the News of Healing testimony, “Farm dog quickly healed,” in the October 7, 2013, Sentinel. It is wonderful to know that all God’s creatures are receptive to the Truth and can be healed immediately. Casting out fear and knowing that there can be no accidents in God’s kingdom, made the grim scene unreal. Having three dogs myself, I really appreciated reading about the healing work of God for a farm dog.

Thank you for using all that you have “in the house” (see II Kings 4:1–7 )—The Christian Science Publishing House—to share the oil of inspiration and gladness to the earth’s remotest corners via JSH-Online.com. My vessels of thought fill each time I search the archives for a new take on a familiar passage, and I love the ability to easily share ideas with my husband and friends. The weekly Christian Science chats, and other audio items available for download, provide welcome companioning ideas during my drive to work each morning. I continue to subscribe to the Sentinel in print, which I now pass along freely—no more temptation to stockpile the back issues for fear of losing access to the good ideas. I read The Christian Science Journal on a tablet, and save the “gems”—those articles that are especially meaningful to me—in my digital metaphysical library. I also subscribe to the digital Christian Science Monitor and appreciate getting the Monitor’s perspective via weekly magazine, website, and free e-mails.

The periodicals have been comforting, welcome friends and valuable, practical tools delivered to many different addresses around the world throughout my life. When I was in graduate school years ago, one of the requirements to complete my degree was to pass a translation exam in another language. The exam didn’t require fluency, but I did have to accurately translate a scientific paper into English in a given time frame with the aid of a dictionary.

The idea came to obtain a few Italian Christian Science Heralds, practice translating the Italian articles, then check my work by comparing it with the Herald’s English translations. They proved to be a perfect practice tool, as well as a prayerful boost, and I easily passed the exam.

I’m also grateful to all the writers who contribute to our periodicals, as well as the editorial staff—it’s no small feat for our Publishing Society to produce a Sentinel every week, a Journal and multiple Herald translations every month, and now, daily online content. Wow! And the Monitor—what a powerful force for good, bringing to the world the truth about world events. The Monitor continues to forge ahead with thoughtful, healing perspectives in an age when many print newspapers no longer exist.
