Daughter's warts healed
About five years ago, my daughter complained to my wife that she was having difficulty walking. My wife looked at the sole of our daughter’s foot and discovered that she had ingrown warts. When my wife mentioned this to me, we agreed to pray about it. I knew that God’s power could heal this condition, based on my own experience.
As a cross country runner in high school, I had experienced a similar difficulty. A problem with warts had forced me to stop running and made it uncomfortable for me to walk, too. I had phoned a Christian Science practitioner, and he’d agreed to help me through prayer-based Christian Science treatment. I remember reading from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, to learn more about God’s healing power. After about two weeks, the thought came to me clearly that the diseased condition was not physical at all but simply a false belief, since God is wholly good and could not create or allow disease or evil. This new view of the situation lessened my fear and I felt I would be healed. Within a week of this, I was walking without pain and the warts on my feet were gone. With joy, I began running once again. I was very grateful for the practitioner’s help and felt the love of God that he expressed.
Gratitude for this healing filled my thought as I prayed for my daughter.
I’d had many healings in the past from relying on God’s power, so I believe in Jesus’ words, “These signs shall follow them that believe; … and they shall recover” (Mark 16:17, 18), and in these words from the Old Testament, “I am the Lord that healeth thee” (Exodus 15:26). I prayed from the standpoint that there is only one Father-Mother God and that He created my daughter perfect, inheriting all good. I also knew that understanding the condition—as in examining and analyzing it—was not the important thing to focus on here. The important thing was to understand the perfection of God and man, pray from that standpoint, and know God never created disease or sent it to His children.
About a week after my wife and I began praying about this, my daughter stopped complaining about the difficulty. A month later, my wife was helping my daughter prepare for a bath and noticed the bottoms of her feet. There was no sign of the warts and our daughter was completely healed. When my wife told me about this, we both rejoiced. Today, our daughter enjoys running, playing, and kicking a soccer ball with complete freedom and ease. There’s been no return of the warts.
This Bible passage describes how I feel about this healing, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). My wife and I are very grateful for this practical proof of God’s love in our life, and give thanks to God for it.
