Our pastor: the foundation for Christian healing
Our dual and impersonal pastor, the Bible, and “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” is with you; and the Life these give, the Truth they illustrate, the Love they demonstrate, is the great Shepherd that feedeth my flock, and leadeth them “beside the still waters.”
—Mary Baker Eddy, Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, p. 322
Early in the Christian Science movement, Mary Baker Eddy appointed a man to be the pastor of her Church to conduct services and preach on Sundays. Later on she replaced a human pastor with two books—the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
