Church services heal
When Christ Jesus preached and taught, his message stirred in many a receptivity to healing. The Bible states that once when Jesus had been teaching in a synagogue, a man with “a spirit of an unclean devil” cried out against him, and Jesus healed him (see Luke 4:33–35). Another time in a synagogue, Jesus healed a man “whose right hand was withered” (see Luke 6:6–10).
That Jesus’ healing works were the demonstration of divine Principle, God—not of a personal power—was a finding of Mary Baker Eddy. She followed Jesus’ example, and it is well documented that people were healed when she preached (see Retrospection and Introspection, pp. 15–16).
