In this series, individuals share how taking Christian Science Primary class instruction has strengthened their spiritual understanding, and brought increasing inspiration and healing to their lives.
Invaluable lessons
I started attending Sunday School at a Christian Science church when I was 18. I loved those Sunday School Bible lessons, and when I turned 20, there were still so many questions I wanted to ask. I wanted to dig deeper in my study of Christian Science and had heard about class instruction, but I didn’t know what it entailed. So I went to talk with a Christian Science teacher and asked him what was involved.
A few months later I applied for his class, which was to be held later that year. I was in my early 20s and still at university. The right time to take class really depends on when you’re ready to take it, but I have always been grateful that I took it sooner rather than later as I have been able to put the lessons I learned into practice throughout my life.
Christian Science class instruction instilled in me a sense of awe. It was a mountaintop experience from which I began to appreciate an amazing spiritual view for the first time. In the years that have followed, I have read and reread my class notes many times. There were spiritual ideas that I did not fully comprehend at the time, but now I get them!
