In this series, individuals share how taking Christian Science Primary class instruction has strengthened their spiritual understanding, and brought increasing inspiration and healing to their lives.
Called to a higher purpose
I was seven months pregnant and very scared when I first began reading the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I had been fearful from childhood, afraid of my own shadow. But that changed almost overnight when I picked up this book and read the first line of the Preface: “To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings” (p. vii).
I became so spiritually filled with the power of the sustaining infinite—God’s love and presence—that I was healed of an infection right before the birth of my daughter who, in turn, had an instantaneous healing of jaundice at birth. This beautiful birth was so quick that the doctors could hardly believe it.
It was obvious that I had found the only medicine to be divine Mind, so when I was asked by the doctors to make my first appointment for the baby, I thanked them and told them I would not need their services. I realized that Christian Science was what I had been looking for all my life. I began an in-depth study of the Science of the Christ and started healing others
right away. My friends noticed a big difference, how joyful, happy, and free I was, and they wanted to know why. I told them about Christian Science, and when they had troubles, I was able to help them with the power of omnipotent God, divine Love.
