Dino's healing
About four years ago, our college-aged son adopted a rescue dog and named him Dino. He’s a beautiful black Labrador and German Shepherd mix. He’s got thick, soft, black fur with a little bit of white on his chest and paws that gives the appearance he’s wearing a tuxedo. Within two weeks of being adopted he responded to voice commands and was an obedient, faithful pet.
When my husband and I first met him, he still acted like a puppy. He was persistently enthusiastic and liked to “mouth” on your arm as a form of greeting. He also had a quirky gait. He didn’t appear to be limping, but was a little lopsided in the way he walked. I made excuses for this and dismissed the imperfection as a harmless aspect of his individuality.
However, recently we were dog sitting him and the quirky gait had become a limp that appeared painful. I asked my son about this, but he didn’t think it was something to be concerned about. In fact, when I checked Dino’s claws, paws, and legs, there didn’t seem to be anything stuck or amiss. Dino sees a veterinarian at times for required shots and for boarding, and neither the vet nor the boarder had noticed anything unusual nor voiced concern.
