Letters
So many thanks for the editorial “Divine simplicity … or mental algebra?” in the October 29 Sentinel.
Years ago, a Christian Science practitioner pointed out the quote from “Letters from those Healed” included in Mary Baker Eddy’s Miscellaneous Writings on page 469: “Truth is, and ever has been, simple; and because of its utter simplicity, we in our pride and selfishness have been looking right over it.” The quote continues that we are “expecting to see the truth blaze forth like some great comet … when, instead … it appears in the simpleness of demonstration … we refuse to accept it; …”
How often I have referred to this quotation and/or shared it with others! It reminds us that our healing prayers can be quite simple and effective. All we need is the humility to listen and apply the simple truth to whatever the need may be.
