Healing and a happy Christmas
Last Christmas I had company staying with me for a few days and we had a wonderful time. Because there were nine of us in total, we all had to fit in the house as best we could. The grandchildren slept in sleeping bags on the floor. On Christmas Eve when I went into the darkened room to say good night to them, I tripped and fell over backward, hitting my head on a window sill and landing on the floor.
I immediately thought of the following passage in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “Declare that you are not hurt and understand the reason why, ...” (Science and Health, p. 397). “Understand the reason why” had added emphasis for me. I have always thought the second part of that sentence to be very important. So I immediately said out loud “I am all right,” and then to myself that I knew why—because I could not be separated from God. The fall had caused quite a commotion, and so I assured the family, “I am all right,” several times, each time affirming my oneness with God.
