Choosing God brings healing
I am learning that it is so beneficial to cultivate reliance and trust in the messages that come directly from God. When I turn to God for daily direction, protection, and satisfaction by adhering to His divine laws, rather than getting caught up in distractions, I hear the uplifting and encouraging messages of His goodness. By putting God first, fears are removed and replaced with the calm that comes from knowledge of His all-powerful, ever-present, healing care. Let me illustrate how I “put God first.”
I had been struggling with a persistent cough for several days, and after going to sleep one night, I awoke with a sudden, violent cough. The jerking of the cough triggered a gripping pain throughout my chest. At first, I didn’t know what to think about it, but then,
after assessing the pain along one of my ribs, I feared that I might have fractured it.
I lay in bed, barely able to breathe and frozen with the fear. Right then, I realized I had two choices: Give in to pain and confusion or pray to realize God is here. I decided to quietly and earnestly turn to God in prayer.
