Priceless cello recovered
In the middle of our summer vacation many years ago, my husband received a phone call informing us that our home had been robbed. A large number of valuable items had been taken, including my husband’s rare and valuable cello, hand-crafted over 300 years ago. Not only was this instrument vital to his career as a musician, but it was also our greatest asset. We felt devastated and violated by the immensity of our loss.
Returning home immediately, we also started the arduous task of working with police and various investigators and detectives. The agonizing conversations about who might have committed the crime were to prove fruitless, as it became apparent that the thieves neither knew us nor did we know them. However, we were extremely grateful to all the people involved for their dedicated efforts to solve this case.
I also immediately called a Christian Science practitioner when we learned of the robbery. Over this whole time I prayed together with her to see that only good was going on, because we live in the kingdom of heaven, where God’s goodness is always unfolding, not diminishing, not taken away. Also, the practitioner was continually encouraging me about the possibility of a good outcome by sharing experiences where others had been helped by prayer.
