Spiritual balance restored

Have you ever watched a high-wire act at the circus? Those walking on the high wire must keep their balance by making certain that their weight is equally distributed on each side of the wire. Often the high-wire artist carries a beam or pole to help him or her keep this critical balance of weight on each side of the wire.

Another illustration of this concept of balance is in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) business. Buildings must be balanced with air coming in and air leaving in order to maintain a comfortable temperature, especially since energy is very costly. As a matter of fact, buildings must have just a little more air put into them than taken out. This keeps the building under “positive pressure,” and balance and economy are maintained.

I would like to share an experience that illustrates the role that “spiritual balance” plays in our lives. Several years ago, I woke up in the night. My stomach was upset and the room was spinning. When I tried to get out of bed, I fell to the floor. I crawled to the bathroom and thought I might vomit, but didn’t. I crawled back and got into bed. I was alarmed because usually when something like this happens to someone, they are told to lie down. I was already lying down!
