Admission of new members

Dear Fellow Members and Friends,

Once again, I have the happy privilege of writing you to share news of today’s [June 6] admission of new members. Admission takes place at a regular business meeting of the Christian Science Board of Directors and is required in the Church Manual. This morning the Board voted to admit new members to our worldwide church family. We are grateful for this evidence that our Church is Alive!

Applications for this admission were received in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish and were sent to us from the following locations:  Angola, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa), England, France, Gabon, Germany, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Liberia, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) Russia, Rwanda, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, United States of America, Uruguay, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The newest members of our worldwide church family unite with us as members of the Church defined by Mary Baker Eddy in the Glossary of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:

The Church is that institution, which affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race, rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs to the apprehension of spiritual ideas and the demonstration of divine Science, thereby casting out devils, or error, and healing the sick. (p. 583)

If you are a Facebook user and would like to extend a personal welcome to these new members, you can comment on the welcome note on the Church’s Facebook page: The Mother Church—The First Church of Christ, Scientist.

Our sincere gratitude goes out to all members and Christian Science teachers who support the admission of new members through their prayers and by approving and countersigning applications. Applications for membership are welcome at any time. The next admission of new members will take place on November 4, 2011. Completed applications must be received by the Office of the Clerk no later than November 1.

With heartfelt love and appreciation for each of you,

Nathan Talbot
Clerk of The Mother Church
