Witness to Love’s blessing

What can we do when  economic conditions have us feeling like the walls are closing in? Whether it’s trying to meet a rising mortgage payment or prevent the buildup of debt because of job loss, or just trying to put food on the table, sometimes it would appear as though there simply isn’t enough of what we need.

I made it a practice to affirm the many ways God was already providing for me and for others.

Personal economic challenges, as well as those broadcast by the media—sovereign debt among nations or the monetary impact of natural disasters—would try to reinforce the notion that life is material and subject to circumstances beyond our control. However, Christian Science helps us understand that our welfare is not vulnerable to destructive natural forces or corporate and government malfeasance. No matter how personal or dramatic it all appears, we can refuse to acquiesce by strengthening our spiritual sense and gaining a Godlike view of life. Prayer can lead us to the higher ground of spiritual certainty, where we feel the deep resolve that God Himself is Life and, therefore, is our Life. We can feel safe in that thought. And we can embrace our community and world in this love and understanding.
