God’s plan covers all our needs

After nearly 30 years of living in the congestion of a suburb in Southern California, my husband and I decided to make a move to the countryside. We were able to take advantage of a more rural life on two and a half acres with all the amenities of city dwelling. We happily adjusted to our new home with more space inside and out. There was even the added benefit of getting another dog and a couple more cats. I embarked on a dream of being an entrepreneur and starting a business, as well as getting involved with the community—life was good.

I felt such an alignment with God and His love that it was exciting to anticipate the wonderful plan that was in store for my family.

After we’d settled into this calm lifestyle, my husband came home from work one warm summer day with the news that he’d been laid off from his job. It seemed incredible, since he was a senior attorney in a corporate law firm. But because of his senior status and the fact that retirement wasn’t too distant—they were “always needing to cut costs”—he was the chosen candidate. His final day (and paycheck) would be within 60 days.
