God’s changeless, beautiful creation

As spring flowers irrepressibly break through snow and ice, so, too, our spiritual nature overcomes whatever would hide our God-given perfection.

It shouldn’t have surprised me, but it did. Right outside the side door of our house I noticed fresh, light green lily sprouts coming through the just unfrozen ground. They were in a place that only a few days before had been covered with ice and snow. It had looked almost glacial.

Of course I knew better, because it’s spring. And those lovely spring plants and bulbs and flowers are supposed to come back, in their full glory. What’s the concept behind this environmental condition? Isn’t it the idea that certain natural entities have within them the power to endure and survive, to flourish in spite of hostile conditions that would try to inhibit or destroy their natural expression?

There’s much in the Bible that sheds enlightenment and spiritual instruction on this subject. The Bible shows how people can master the feeling that a hostile, negative mental environment or entity can suppress or destroy their true spiritual nature.
