Pain and lump under arm healed
After my last child was born, I found I was having trouble with one of my arms. There was a lot of discomfort, especially when I needed to hold my new baby. Every time I picked him up, I kept switching to my “good arm” to hold him. At first, I thought maybe I’d been sleeping on my other arm in a funny position, or using it too much.
Then I realized that I was making “excuses” for this problem to be there. In my lifetime of studying Christian Science, I knew this was the wrong way to think. In this instance, the Bible account came to thought that tells about Jesus and his disciples passing by a man who had been blind since birth. The disciples asked, ”Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?” (see John 9:1–7). They were trying to figure out why this man was blind.
That was exactly what I was doing! I was trying to determine why I had this problem. The story continues: “Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” Jesus said to the man, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam . . . He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.”
