Ageless living

When reading the message on the cover of the April 4, 2011, Sentinel, “Vibrant at any age,” I very much agreed with that. There are so many stories in the Bible that give us a deep insight into the agelessness, not only of the patriarchs and prophets mentioned, but of each one of us as created in the image of God. One impressive example is Abraham who, at an advanced age, was told to leave his country on a hard, long journey to discover new land and to be blessed (see Gen. 12:1–4). All along the way, God was with him, guiding him.

Several times in my life, because of political, educational, or personal situations, I’ve been forced to leave everything behind and to start anew. When having nothing material to hold on to, one may be fearful of a downward slide. But my experience has shown me again and again that there is something to hold on to, and that is God’s love. Divine Love is very reliable and always present. It’s been my guide and my rock to build on.

During many decades of active Christian Science church membership, I was led forward safely on my path as I relied with all my heart on the guidance of God. I have found peace and blessings through daily prayer and baskets full of good, new ideas coming to me through the study of the weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson and the immense treasure of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health. For me, this has been the key to “ageless” living. When I retired from business 16 years ago, new activities in church and in daily life opened up, and this was again a glorious time together with my wife. The years were full of profound studies and much uplifting inspiration.
