Articles for "teens" aren't just for teens! Ann Sebring's article in the May 17 Sentinel [" 'I will listen for Thy voice' "] had a clear message about the 4Cs of comparing, criticizing, complaining, and condemning.

I'm a senior citizen, and this week my husband and I went fishing on a large lake. Miles from the boat ramp, we ran out of gas in both motors. The electric motor wasn't capable of long distances, so I pulled out the paddle. The wind picked up, and the small whitecaps formed on the previously calm lake.

I paddled ten strokes, then rested, paddled and rested. My thoughts went from frustration and strenuous paddling to the 4Cs. Recognizing my negative thoughts, I rejected the 4Cs, paddled steadily, singing Christian Science hymns to myself and paddling with ease, constantly paddling several miles without tiring, until reaching the boat dock where we were able to purchase gas. The Sentinel articles are so very valuable!
