HEALED OF EFFECTS OF SPIDER BITE

The Labor Day weekend was quiet, without traffic on the usually busy highway beyond the trees. Wearing loosely fitting cargo shorts, I set off for my afternoon jaunt along a heavily wooded area.

The greenbelt along the creek was always inviting and a lovely respite. The grass was blowing beautifully in the late afternoon breeze. Walking along the creek behind the tall grass, I stopped to visit a site that harbored a few woody ferns. As I knelt down to touch the gentle fronds, I felt a sharp bite on the back of my thigh. Instinctively, I hit the area and felt something fall down the back of my leg and saw that it was a rather large spider.

While showering that evening, I felt a lump beginning to grow on the back of my thigh. Though it was tempting to examine the area, I had recently returned from taking Christian Science class instruction, a course in spiritual healing, and was feeling incredibly inspired. I felt certain that no matter what the appearance was, my spiritual wholeness couldn't be touched or damaged. I cleaned the bite and, not having any large bandages, placed a large washcloth across the back of my thigh and went to bed.
