SPIRIT'S ESSENCE

THIS WEEK'S CHRISTIAN SCIENCE BIBLE LESSON , on the subject of "Spirit," helped me see more clearly than ever that God as "Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God" (Rom. 8:16, citation 2). Or as the Amplified Bible puts it, "The Spirit Himself [thus] testifies together with our own spirit, [assuring us] that we are children of God."

In this Lesson I caught sight of the power of Spirit, hovering and brooding like a bird, moving with the strength of the wind; freeing each of us to be filled with the vigor and vitality of divine law and its enduring blessing.

It struck me how precisely and effectively Spirit, as divine law, communicates with us. According to Science and Health, "Not personal intercommunion but divine law is the communicator of truth, health, and harmony to earth and humanity" (p. 72, cit. 6).
