ANYONE CAN BE A HEALER

I HAD TO VALUE IT

I NOW CONSIDER Christian Science the greatest gift that my parents could have ever given me. But growing up, as I got older, I knew I needed to make it my own—understand it, prove it, express its ideas in my own way. My deepest desire was to share its healing message with everyone.

Mom had told me about a healing I'd had when I was four years old. I'd complained about my ear hurting, and she asked if I wanted to speak with my Sunday School teacher. When I got off the phone with my teacher, the pain was gone. Mom asked what happened. I said she'd told me to say, "Go away error!" and I did. That quick healing made a big impression on me. I was recognizing that I didn't just have to agree with what my body was telling me, and I gained the confidence that God was always with me and available.

When I went to college, I stopped going to Christian Science church services and studying the weekly Bible Lesson regularly. Instead, I got caught up with everyday challenges and never thought to pray for answers. But at the same time I no longer felt the joy, dominion, and peace I'd felt as a child.
