FLU SYMPTOMS HEALED

Recently I had a healing of flu symptoms. A co-worker was suffering from the flu, and I found myself becoming afraid that I would catch it and have to miss work. As a student of Christian Science, I knew how important it was for me to watch my thoughts and not admit to fear or disease as having reality, since they didn't originate in God.

So my prayer began with aligning my thinking to what I knew was true about myself as God's spiritual creation, His image and likeness (see Gen. 1:26, 27). I immediately addressed the fear I felt by reasoning that since God is good and alone is power, goodness was all that could be present with me or anyone—not fear.

I prayed with a familiar passage from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: "The intercommunication," she wrote, "is always from God to His idea, man" (p. 284). The preceding sentence states that "thought passes from God to man, but neither sensation nor report goes from material body to Mind."
