The pause
Let the computer screen go dark.
Let the phone go into voice mail.
Ask the appointment to wait five minutes
While you acknowledge Him who is the
Real substance and power in this hour.
Mental door shut, you feel dominion,
The lifting that honors the Creator who
Made the sun rise this morning, who
Sweeps the breadth of the sky just for
You to see more clearly and broadly.
That pull of heavy tiredness is false.
The longing to be somewhere else
With someone else, is the dream
Saying somehow there is no God who
Designs you to have what you need here and now.
For everything that has to be done, improved, corrected,
May the balance of our thought always be weighted
On the side of Him who has done all,
Established the best, defended the innocent,
and allowed us the privilege
of being known and loved by Him.
