HUMBLE TRUST IN GOD

Last year my studies at college seemed particularly difficult. Even though I enjoyed studying, I had to work hard to make up for deficits, or areas in which I was behind. Although during my course of studies I'd learned to let God guide me when I had to choose courses or solve complicated calculations, a certain pride had gotten hold of me. It was an "I can do it myself" attitude.

As my final oral exams came up, I put together a study plan. I knew that one week before the exam there was going to be a Pfingsttreffen (a weekend camp/meeting for young Christian Scientists during the Pentecost holiday, an official holiday in Germany), and I was involved with my local Christian Science youth forum in planning the weekend camp activites. I wanted to do my studying early, so I could give my full attention to the meeting. However, I wasn't able to keep to my scheduling. Although I knew from other times that the meeting was always a great joy and inspiration, it also seemed tiring for the organizers.

I'd learned from early childhood that it always pays to rely on God's guidance. I trusted that since God had given me these two tasks to do, studying for school and planning for the youth meeting, He would also give me the strength to fulfill them. I was already envisioning how the inspiration gained from the lectures and talks during the Pfingsttreffen would spur my subsequent studies. So I made efforts to help with the planning, and went to the meeting expecting to learn about healing ideas.
