'I NEARLY GASPED'

First, I can't tell you how much I look forward to Sentinel every week, with its inspiring, thought-provoking articles and testimonies of spiritual healing.

Second, I'd like to share a healing I recently had while reading one of those articles. I'd had mildly annoying sniffles off and on all day. I'd also found myself mired in an online discussion that, although I'd waded in with the best of intentions, soon degenerated into what seemed to be an unpleasant resistance from some parties to hearing what each poster was really saying. By the time I "agreed to disagree" and bowed out, the sniffles had become worse, to the point where one of my sons expressed concern about my being able to sleep that night.

However, I'd just picked up the November 9 issue ["Responding to natural disasters"] and turned to the article "Hurt feelings don't have to hang around" by Amanda Caswell. Although the discussion hadn't actually hurt my feelings, I know it had those of other online posters. And to be honest it was still bugging me. Ms. Caswell's comments about God being the only I Am, and hence the only Ego, reminded me that all the negativity that seemed to stem from one particular poster wasn't in fact, part of that individual's true nature as the image and likeness of an all-loving God.

With that, whatever lingering annoyance I had about the discussion fell away—as did the cold symptoms.

Although I've experienced spiritual healing many times over the years, this was so immediate and so clear that I nearly gasped.

Many thanks to Ms. Caswell for submitting her beautiful article, and to the Sentinel for publishing it.

NOTHING LEFT OUT

Thank you, Rosalie Dunbar, for your article "For physical and mental health in natural disaster zones" in the November 9 Sentinel, on praying about natural disasters. I think it is splendid. Just no problem or seeming effect left out.

In a way the whole article helps me deal with aging by helping me better understand infinity and eternity.

'MY LITTLE RED BOOK ...'

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the November 16 issue on gratitude. We can never be reminded too much of the healing and empowering strength of gratitude. I especially enjoyed the page from spirituality.com explaining what blessings gratitude has brought into the lives of people everywhere.

One of the most powerful spiritual ideas in my life—and the one that has helped me most in times of trial—has been the realization that, whatever the circumstances or situation, I can always express love.

I think my most precious possession is a little red book where I have registered all the spiritual healings I have had since discovering Christian Science 40 years ago. And when I reread it, each page evokes deep gratitude for this powerful tool we have to heal ourselves and the world.

FRESH APPROACH

Though Curtis L. Katz's article, "Transportation—welcoming new ideas aboard," in the November 16 Sentinel, is about railroads, the truths therein are inspirational to anyone wanting to implement new ideas in a this-is-the-way-we've-always-done-it area.

His sentence "Subtler than resistance to new ideas is resistance to revisiting old ones" alerts the reader to prepare thought against blockage or mere stalling when one wants to move forward with a fresh approach to something. He then cites Revelation 21:5: "Behold, I make all things new." How necessary to approach any endeavor from this standpoint.
