SYMPTOMS OF FOOD POISONING HEALED

As I was preparing for a trip to Germany to visit my son, daughter-in-law, and my two grandsons, I suddenly began to have stomach pains. At the time, there was a news bulletin that a particular company's peanut-butter granola bars were being recalled because of a salmonella outbreak, and I realized that I had eaten some of those bars.

Because of the extreme pain and discomfort I was feeling, I was unable to attend the Wednesday evening testimony meeting at our church that night. I called a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. After about an hour and a half, however, I was in so much pain that there was no way I could sit, stand, or lie down to get any relief at all. I thought that this must be what it feels like to die. And the thought came to me that I could go to the emergency room. But then I snapped out of these fearful thoughts and began to reason spiritually.

From studying Christian Science, I knew the importance of focusing my thoughts on God rather than on fear and physical symptoms, and I realized that I did not want to put myself in a position of having other people's fears surround me. I saw that I was dealing with my own fear, and that was what truly needed to change. I said to myself, I am going to demonstrate what I know to be true. I called the practitioner again. The spiritual truths she spoke to me about my perfection as a child of God were calming.
